John and Jessica Payton

John and Jessica Payton serve The Navigators as the Mid-America Regional Directors, overseeing student ministry in Iowa and Nebraska. They are passionate about seeing men and women come to know Christ, learn to walk deeply with him, and then be sent out into the harvest fields of the world, bringing the Gospel “next door to everywhere.”

Locally, they invest in young professionals who are seeking to follow Jesus and advance the gospel right where God has placed them and also in a community of high school students who meet regularly in their home to discuss who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.

John and Jessica have served with the Navigators since 2002 and previously directed collegiate ministries at Northwest Missouri State and Iowa State. In recent years, they have also helped to launch and lead national staff training and staff recruiting initiatives for the U.S. Navigators. They live in Ames, Iowa, with their 3 sons, Joseph, Jonathan, and James.
